There certainly have been a lot of bad Tomb Raider games over the years. I have 100% campaign completion on Normal, am going back through for my Hard playthrough, and recently bought a few cables so that I can play multiplayer suspension of disbelief is broken: Yamatai feels real, the danger feels real, and part of you wonders if that dangerous island isn't actually out there, amassing shipwrecks and downed planes and populated by a manic and lost cult. Well this is the story of Lara before she became Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. I've never played a previous Lara Croft game. Some die and some are captured by the Solarii Brotherhood, a violent cult of criminals, mercenaries and shipwreck survivors. In one scene she even says, “I hate tombs.” Contradictory for a game about a tomb raider, right? The Lara Croft we have come to know is the face of Angelina Jolie who played Lara Croft in the movie Lara Croft: Tomb The group is determined to find the lost kingdom of Yamatai, an island in the Dragon's Triangle off the coast of Japan. You see, in Tomb Raider, it's actually *fun* to explore the world it presents. For those of you that do not know who she is, does Tomb Raider ring a bell? Reimagined as a fresh young archaeology student “with great instincts,” Lara leads a reality show expedition team in search of a lost, legendary Japanese island. I only really enjoyed the very first one as it Most of the games since have gotten lost in Lara's sexuality and/or felt more like Lara 'James Bond' Croft instead of a female Indiana Jones.
